Green Light

I've been reading a bunch of these yaoi novels these past couple years (on crusty, poorly-scanned pdfs, as god intended). Call it Kanbaru maxxing. Or maybe not. Ahem, where was I? This one was one of my favorites from the bunch—not the most memorable, but my favorite relationship for sure.

The Taishi Zaou art on the cover lured me in, though I knew she wasn't the writer. Her art is just the best! The premise is rather funny (yeah dude you should totally invite your former friend out on a date, that'll totally pwn him). I felt like the illustrations did a lot of heavy lifting for the characterization but I guess it’s fine since it's a light novel, right? Either way, it’s a fun read. This book’s only defect is that it's too short—The gratification is like, too immediate. Setting up such a good character dynamic for it to wrap up so fast… I know it's a stupid complaint considering what kind of novel it is, but come on, you could totally drag it on for another hundred or so pages. A sex scene that cute just deserves it. It’d be so much more fun that way…!
