dream
I was at my grandma's old house. It was being haunted by some sort of ghost. I befriended a fox spirit that showed up in the bedroom I was staying in. Her human form looked to be about 40 years old, and as a fox, she fit comfortably in my arms.
A stylish girl who looked like the guitarist for a punk band showed up to investigate the ghosts. We talked to a lot of people around the house, now an unfamiliar labyrinthine building reminiscent of the Ooku in the mononoke movies, and the supernatural phenomena got stronger. Windows breaking, people being possessed—we soon found out that it was the ghost of a woman bearing a grudge.
Eventually the girl said something about sacrificing the fox to drive the spirits out. I refused, and she put some sort of curse on me by touching my shoulder blades and took the fox away to use in the sealing ritual she was going to perform.
I tried going after her and eventually arrived in what seemed to be my backyard at night. Ghosts in the form of newborn puppies and human fetuses swarmed around me and started nibbling at my feet. They had no teeth, so it didn't hurt, but it was like they stole all the heat from my body. I looked up to see that the fox-lady was suspended in the air by some sort of invisible chain. She wore a white tunic, and a halo of white light shone around her. Somehow I knew that if I called her name it would break the curse, but she had never given it to me. Even then, I called it out. “Mikazuki. Come to me. I'll keep you safe.” She fell into my arms in the form of a white fox. I hugged her and petted her fur and felt the heat return to my body. The ghosts wouldn't come close to my feet any longer.
The girl didn't seem angry that I had stopped the ritual. She said the whole thing was partially her fault, and that she would take responsibility for sealing the ghost, or else the things that had nibbled my feet would keep growing into something like zombies.
With the fox in my arms, I returned to my house, where everything was normal. My mom was making dinner as usual, and asked if the girl would eat with us. She replied that she had to go, and hugged my back. She said, “you shouldn't let your back so unguarded around me”, and I answered by snuggling closer to her body. She smiled sadly. “I'm so tired”, she said as she left. As I saw her going down the stairs, I had the impression that she was a ghost. My mom said it would make no sense because a ghost couldn't be tired, but I thought that she was tired precisely because she was a ghost. I never saw her leave the house. Through the window, I saw my dad getting home from work in his car.
dream
Dreamed there were a bunch of wuxia-type warriors fighting at my old school. Classes were still being held as normal, but there were a bunch of old guys wearing hanfu and carrying tasseled flutes and waving sabers around. I had a simple wooden flute. Just like in real life, I didn’t know how to play it, so I just blew on it really hard, making a sound like a kid trying to whistle and not quite managing to do it, and for some reason that was a like, super powerful spell. I could even use it to jump around walls and stuff. My main technique was calling upon the souls of heroes from The Romance of the Three Kingdoms to lend me their strength for each blow given in a battle. I jumped really high up in the air and called on Lu Bu to help me cleave a guy at the school gate. It was awesome.
I was supposed to be channeling some sort of spirit, like a mulberry tree spirit I think? I had been dressed all in white with some purple braided cords hanging from my body, with white powder on my face and purple dots on my cheeks. I had to go somewhere nearby for a ritual, and I had to walk there on a red line drawn on the floor that was only visible to spirits (or people who could see spirits, I guess?), balancing myself on a single stilt that went tek, tek, tek as I went—some people who were trying to stop the ritual were after me, but they were apparently really slow.
As I was climbing up to the last floor of the house the ritual was going to be held in, I looked in a mirror and realized I had somehow turned into Nanami from Kamisama Hajimemashita. In my head I was like, ah, sure, this is just like the first episode, so I just have to do the same thing she did there and I’ll be fine—the first episode doesn’t go even remotely like that, though… Anyways. I opened a door at the top of the stairs and looked down into the ritual spot. It was once a five-story house made of wood, where the floors/ceilings had been removed and the whole place filled with water. For the ritual I had to dive in until I reached the very bottom and that would somehow purify the water. I dove in and swam. When I reached the bottom, the water lit up a bright white. When I swam back to the top, Tomoe was there to pull me out of the water. I took his outstretched hands and woke up
dream
I was at a school. There were only girls, and they wore light green and cream-colored linen sailor uniforms. The uniforms all had different types of flowers embroidered on them, and each girl wore different types of ribbons as ties. There was a girl getting bullied. She was going to be killed, but she didn’t seem sad about it. She was smiling, and everyone acted like I was weird for trying to stop her murder. I had the impression that I was “dreaming about Subahibi”. I ran out of the classroom and into the hallway. My brother and his friends were there. I tried to tell him that he was dreaming and had to wake up, and that we’d talk once we were awake. The way out of the school was a huge waterslide. When I reached the bottom, I forgot that I was dreaming.
Outside the school, there were some cops around a tree. I had to pass under it. A bloody chunk of meat fell on me. The tree was absolutely full of those, like a bunch of people exploded and their remains got caught on the branches. I knew this had something to do with what was happening at the school, and I wanted to be as far away from it as possible. Turning to another side, I came across a girl with long black hair wearing a black and red sailor uniform. She held her hand away from her body and started disintegrating into chunks of red meat starting from her fingertips. I thought, “Ah, so that’s where the chunks of meat on the tree came from”. I was grossed out and ran towards the park. It was a park I often see from the window on my way back from college, but much bigger. It was late afternoon, and I didn’t want to be alone. At the park I saw Key (from Key the Metal Idol) under a tree. I thought, “she won’t say no if I ask her to be my friend”, so I ran towards her, my arms held out, yelling, “Key! Be my friend!”. She held my hands with a melancholic expression, and then the dream changed.
I was riding a bike through a sunlit city, full of old buildings and stone-brick paved streets. Key was riding double with me. In my memories, we had been friends since we were kids, and I was now a college student. I had to go to an old church to get a “scroll” from something called a “Chinese AI Machine” (I think it was like score readings in Tales of the Abyss) The church (or church-like building) had a black wrought iron door, but somehow it wasn't heavy. There was a sort of anteroom which had a lot of decorative panels made of the same material as the door. There was a weird teenage boy in a school uniform drawing them, but I ignored him and went to the next room through a thick wooden door. In front of the door, you could see part of the machine coming out from the ground. It was like a gigantic typewriter, running automatically. The types were letters from the Roman alphabet, which struck me as odd since it was called a “Chinese AI Machine”... I went around the machine where there was a low wooden desk. Behind it was someone I mentally called “Ling Wen”, though they looked nothing alike. She wore a golden dress, had brown skin and black hair braided on one side—and she was very beautiful. I thought, “when I wake up, I have to tell (my friend) about her”. I kneeled in front of her desk. She took out my scroll and explained it to me (apparently, I was trying to sell a car and had to be careful of someone who might try to swindle me…). Her voice was very pleasant. She had lots of attendants going in and out of the room. They wore masks and long gowns. I left with my scroll. The weird kid was still in the anteroom (I ignored him again). When I left, I was in the neighboring city. It was cold, and I didn't have a coat, and I kept wandering about feeling like I had lost something important, somewhere…
dream
I dreamed that I was playing Super Robot Wars on my laptop. When I finished a level, the first episode of a new Gundam show started airing on the screen. I said in the dream, “oh, they're going for a Macross-inspired look.” I don't know what that means, since I've never watched Macross. The show started with the main character, a kid around 11 or 12 with short, curly, reddish hair, arriving home in his Gundam(but I couldn't see the robot proper in the dream -_-). His home was the upper part of a giant robot woman, covered in greenery, floating in space with a bunch of debris around it.
The inhabitants of this place were all children younger than the protagonist, and there were these very tall robot ladies (they kinda looked like the franxx mechs) that took care of them. These robots followed orders from some higher being that had a female voice (probably the giant robot woman they lived on?).
The protagonist lands and one of the robot caretakers helps him out of the Gundam. She then tells a girl, who had shoulder-length black hair and seemed to be about the same age as the protagonist(apparently his childhood friend?) to help him change out of his piloting suit. He was ashamed to take off his clothes in front of her, so the girl got angry at him and stormed off, mouthing something about how the robot ladies always said they all must have a strong sense of unity and have no secrets between them or something. It was totally some kind of weird cult thing. I don't remember how the rest of the episode went…
dream
I dreamed that I was playing Chaos;Child. It took several tries to torrent. For some reason, it was actually some sort of mecha anime. The main character was a guy who had his memory like. Erased and was lied to about who he was and taken to this sorta gray and desertic post-apocalyptic place, and he was actually from some other “dimension”? Maybe just another country. I think he might've been some sort of cyborg. The machines, mechs and other stuff were all weird and fleshy, like they had meat inside if you opened them. Each pilot also had a robot girl with them, like in Five Star Stories. They had specific names(as in, a word equivalent to “pilot” and a word equivalent to like. “Fatima”) but I only remember the ones from the other “dimension”. I remember thinking, “man, Chaos;Child sure starts out weird”.
After some fights the mc got into a sort of fleshy sinkhole that swallowed him up—it was some sort of portal I believe—and the anime cut to a super high-tech mech hangar. I knew that was where the mc was originally from. There was a young pilot there, and a nameplate showed on screen with his name and rank(I don't remember what he was called nor the word they used for pilot), and then out of a mech near him a robot girl came out. She was sort of like a 30MS, pink and white body and a brown ponytail. A nameplate also showed on screen next to her. I don't remember her name, but the rank written under it was “Zedra”.
dream
I was at the nearby shopping district, and the store signs and people's t-shirts around me sent secret messages to me from god. God was myself. I don't remember what sort of messages they were.
After leaving there I went to the field behind my house. I was running through the grass and my neighbor, who was helping to turn the field into a marathon track, called out to me. There was a very strong rain that night and lots of things had fallen apart. The neighbor told me she had seen my lost dog in the bar that doesn't exist, near the house that doesn't exist, but maybe did, once. To reach this bar I had to go through the underground stairs(they also don't exist) and they were all broken, because of the rain. I forgot my shoes and my bag. My bag was with a kid, inside the house near the bar. He had my old phone, the one that was given to my grandpa shortly before he died. The ceiling inside the house was giving out and I hit my head at the lowest point. The house's living room floor was circled by dirt where it wasn't tiled, and on the dirt where toys I had as a child, all very, very faded by the sun
dream
I was in the crew of a boat going through a bay. I had found some sort of treasure but in turn had my ability to talk taken away. My crewmate could hear my thoughts. He said I hadn't lost my ability to talk: I had learned the language of the ancients, that was only in vibrations—which he knew and could feel. He said he could hear me even if I was all the way across the waterfall caves. He and I got off the ship and into his rowboat and sat with our backs to each other—I don't remember anything from here on.
dream
Dreamed I was in a city I had never seen before. At some point, I "died", and became some sort of ghost. Everyone saw a rotting broken doll when they looked at my body, except for the girl who loved me. We were inside an abandoned school, trying to figure out what had happened to me. My family—not my irl one, I had an older brother and a younger sister—had buried a doll in my place. It looked like something bad had happened at the abandoned school, because the school's pool was full of corpses(dolls?). After a while some people arrived, and they could see me as I really was. The girl that loved me dissapeared and I found her face-down in the water at the school's very big attic. There was a giant blue robot with her, and I was scared it would kill me too, so I ran away.
Downstairs, a scientist stopped us(as in, the other people who had arrived at the school and me) and explained that we had been infected by an alien virus that would allow us to pilot the robots. One of our organs had been substituted by an artificial one, and that's why normal humans couldn't see us. There was a big window through which we could see a lot of pilots playing around with their mechs. Some of them looked like superheroes, some of them looked like bugs(as in the shugods from King Ohger) and the pilot showing them to us said they weren't scary at all.
My gums fell from my mouth like dentures. I put them back but they hurt, and I knew that was my robot calling me. I climbed the stairs to the attic. The girl that loved me was encased in a blue gel that seemed to come from the robot. I tripped and fell through the mech and into a sea of blue gel. I swam up, and up, until a red interface (a sectioned red circle with CLEAR written under it) appeared. I was transported to a pure white, spherical room, and I knew the girl was safe, and I knew I would be safe with this robot. I woke up—
