It was the morning of Halloween, and all through the house, you could hear me stirring, not unlike a mouse. Making last-minute decorations to give the party some cheer, I'm tired of rhyming so let's stop here.
Anyways, where was I? Oh, right, toad bread!

No toads harmed in the making of this recipe.
I happened to come across Nikk Alcaraz’s lovely video at about 5 in the morning of October 31st. I wasn't sure if the active dry yeast I had in the kitchen was still alive, but it wouldn't hurt to test it out, would it?
Maybe it's true that the dead rise on Halloween, because the yeast foamed up beautifully, and a few hours later I had a tasty new friend.

I didn't have bread flour (or a good way to sub it) so he ended up rather sloppy, as you can see.
I had a hard time keeping people from eating him during the day, but he looked really nice on the Halloween party table that night (I don't have any pictures of that, though…)
