There’s been a Yoshitaka Amano exhibition being hosted in a cultural center in my state for the past two months, and I really felt like I’d regret it for the rest of my life if I didn’t go, so in the very last weekend before closing I finally managed to leave my house for the first time this year and go to the capital. Hehe, how’s that for a hikkineet?!
Here’s an awful picture of the big day’s fit. None of the pictures I took are any better than this, so start getting used to it.

I initially had a completely different look in mind, but somehow ended up in this all-black ensemble instead of my planned black-and-white. Well, I think it looked cute, though you can’t see the cutest details in the picture (sorry). I hadn’t worn a skirt in well over a year, but I was wearing shorts underneath so I didn’t feel that weird about it. I was in a very good mood, to put it simply.
We got there relatively early so we didn’t have to wait long in the line.
Of course, I took Jiji along with me
When I got inside the first exhibition room and saw that Angel’s Egg painting, I nearly cried. Actually, I feel like I’m going to cry just from looking at this picture again. There were so many details I had never seen when looking at the movie’s poster on a screen.
Awful picture so I could look back and know it wasn’t a dream
The Final Fantasy section was the largest. I was in heaven. When I turned a corner and saw Sephiroth I thought I’d faint from sheer happiness, which probably comes across in this incredibly bad picture.
Awful picture so I could send it to my friends and make them wish they were me
I was so glad there was a Vampire Hunter D section, too. Going inside that room was sort of a religious experience. I was so incredibly happy that I teared up a bit. Even my mom became a fan—in her words, “the man is good”.
This is like the image of a saint to me
It was insane seeing those pictures I’ve reblogged on tumblr in real life, but there was a lot of new stuff, too. I had never heard of Candy Girl and Devaloka, and they were both very surprising collections. Glittery dolls here, huge paintings that took up entire walls there. It was mesmerizing.
And there were also Terras everywhere for those with eyes to see them
The very last section was one of those projection rooms(I don’t really know what they’re called), which I didn't really like. The lights from the projectors were too bright for me so I mostly just looked at the floor (and poked at the moving images), and everything was such a sensory overload that I was dizzy afterwards—it sort of felt like I was inside one of the Mononoke movies, though, so it wasn’t all bad.
I still can’t believe I got to experience all of that in real life. I’m so glad I didn’t miss the chance to see it.
Since it was close by, we went to the flea market after the exposition. The stalls were kind of lackluster (it's a slow time of year for tourism + that place is quickly becoming a sea of unsanded 3d printed wares), but that’s fine since it wasn’t the day’s main attraction. Here’s what I got:
The lady I buy vintage dolls from wasn’t there so my wallet was left pretty much unscathed
I got a Maomao bootleg figure, volume 3 of Pandora Hearts, some pretty tableware and a locket necklace that I’ll soon put a picture of Saber inside of (plus a lil’ Gojo-sensei that’s not in the picture because it was a gift for my little brother)
After that, it was time for a late lunch (and what I personally consider to be my only good picture of the whole day)
I got to take a plushie on a date, at long last…!
This place is inside a historical building and you can get a great view of the sky from the window seats, so I really wanted to take Jiji here. The quiche was overpriced and a little bland for my tastes, but he didn’t complain even once ;p
And that’s all for today! I'm very tired but very happy.
